Burns Lunch 2012
Deeside Activity Park, a local outdoor pursuits company based near Aboyne, will be hosting their 7th Burns Lunch this year. Rising in popularity every year, the Park’s Burns Lunch will be held on Sunday 22th January at 12.30 pm, within the Park’s indoor arena. A traditional Scottish menu has been chosen to accompany a plethora of entertainment, including the customary recital of Robert Burns ‘Address to a Haggis’, the music of Tarland fiddler Paul Anderson, and singing from Deeside residents. “Booking in advance is absolutely essential” says Caroline from Deeside Activity Park, “We hosted our first Burns lunch in 2005 and were so pleased that we had managed to attract just over 20 guests, however, as word has spread about the quality fare, demand has grown and we have been catering for between 120 and 150 guests each year since.” Deeside Activity Park will be serving a traditional lunch of cock-a-leekie soup, Haggis, Neeps and Tatties (that goes without saying!), an option of vegetarian or traditional, homemade Clootie Dumpling, followed off by a cup of tea or coffee and shortbread. “It is great that this event is a not to be missed event by so many of our guests.” Said Fiona, Sales & Marketing for the park. If you’d like to join the Deeside Activity Park Burns Lunch celebrations, call 013398 83536 to book your table. Tickets are £16 or £14 for senior citizens. Whilst the coffee shop and activities will be running as usual, Deeside Activity Park would like to apologise that due to the large numbers of guests attending the burns lunch then the weekly winter Sunday Lunch Carvery will not be available but will return on 29th January 2012.

Santa Returns to Deeside
Santa Claus and his elves are coming to Deeside on 18th December to offer sleigh rides and a visit to his grotto at a local Activity Park. Deeside Activity Park are thrilled to have Santa coming back to visit and have even given his grotto a new lease of life. “Santa and his elves will be here on Sunday 18th December from 11 am till 3 pm and we will be offering visits to see Santa in his grotto and also a ride on his sleigh.’ Said Fiona, Sales and Marketing at the park. It is £3 per child for either the grotto or the sleigh rides but £5 if you wish to do both. The places are limited and are booking up fast. There is also a Sunday lunch carvery on that day also for that perfect family day out, lunch and activities! ‘Christmas is all about families and here at the park we welcome everyone in the family from babies to grandparents. We have something for everyone. Hopefully on the 18th there will be enough snow for our new mattrack powerboards to be out and about also.” Said Ken Howie, Owner of Deeside Activity Park.

Deeside Activity Park’s Bonfire Night was a Great Success!
Deeside Activity Park’s Annual Bonfire and Fireworks held yesterday on Sunday 6th November was hailed as a huge success by organisers. “We can’t be 100 percent sure but we think there was between 600 and 800 people at the park enjoying the bonfire, fireworks and of course our very own Cairnton Aberdeen Angus BBQ. That is almost double if not triple the amount of guests that were here last year!” said Ken Howie, Owner of the park and also the person who put on such a wonderful display of fireworks. The Evening was just perfect cold but very pleasant. E & M Lees had provide a courtesy bus from Lumphanan Square for local residents to come to the park to save on parking spaces, which I think was just as well as the cars were lining the road on both sides for quite some stretch from the park. “The BBQ went down a real treat as usual, in fact we ran out of rolls, soup and onions by the time we got to the last 15 in the queue. We are wondering if we need to start making burgers for next year already? “said Fiona from DAP. “This morning we have already started to build next year’s bonfire.” The Bonfire night is only one of a string of special events that are held at Deeside Activity Park over the year, the next event is the Santa’s sleigh rides and Santa’s Grotto on 18th December.
